Children's Ministry Coordinator
Jess has known since kindergarten that she wanted to be a teacher. December of 2017, she received her Associates Degree from Delaware County Community College in Early Childhood Education. In 2020, Jess earned a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from West Chester University. Jess has worked for Hopewell Christian Preschool and has also been involved in Coatesville Kids to College.
Starting early on, Jess has always had a passion for working with children. Her first job took place at Hopewell UMC where she shadowed Patty Wiehler’s Children’s Ministry work and began working in the church nursery. Jess has always admired Patty, who pointed her in the direction of this role.
Jess’s main goal for this ministry is to instill a deep love for Jesus in all our students. She would love to add mission work that the children can actively participate in to help shine the light. Finally, Jess wants to bring everyone together more: she wants to bring back family night, have outside of church field trips, and/or develop a youth night for our older students.
Jess believes all of the pastoral staff, congregation members, families, and children play a significant role in discipleship, and we need to partner together to teach our young ones about Jesus and God’s love (and often, learning from the children!) When everyone comes together, amazing things can happen. She truly looks forward to working with the children here at Olivet UMC and helping to brighten their light.
